Region 73 is in its third decade of service with approximately 2,000 children participating in the soccer program at California State University - Bakersfield (CSUB).
The 2008 season will start in late August. We currently have 23 fields of various sizes to accomodate the various age groups of U6 through U19 players.
Introduction to the American Youth Soccer Organization
The American Youth Soccer Organization, or AYSO was founded in the Los Angeles area in 1964. Since that time the non-profit organization has become of the the country's most sucessful youth programs, with regions in all fifty states. AYSO's success is bases on its philosophies of "Everyone Plays", "Balanced Teams", "Open Registration", "Positive Coaching", and "Good Sportsmanship".
In 2000 there were some 630,000 players in more than 900 regions. Region 73 is on of the ten regions in Kern County, known as Area A. |

Next Fall Registration: January 26, 2008 @ CSUB Soccer Fields
Player Registration: $95 per child payable in cash or check.
Boys and girls ages 4 to 18 are eligible to play in Region 73. Registration is held on several days throughout the year. The next registration date for “Guaranteed Play” in the 2008 playing season will be 1/26/2008, Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. At the CSUB, AYSO Soccer fields. You must have proof of age, if the child did not play during the 2007 season. New players must bring a copy of their birth certificate or proof of age when registering.

All referees that have been certified and worked on the 2007 season games are invited for spring select.
All coaches are actively looking for referees that will help teams to fulfill their referee requirements.
This is another opportunity to help the kids in our community and gain some experience as a referee.
