AYSO Region 73 Honored With Platinum Level Award

American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Region 73 of Bakersfield has been awarded a Platinum Regional Assessment Award for the 2008-09 AYSO season. The award honors Region 73 for overall excellence and its commitment to serving its communities and other AYSO Regions. AYSO has almost 1,000 Regions which are the national soccer organization’s community-based leagues.  Only 135 AYSO Regions in the nation received the Platinum Award.

The Platinum Award is the highest award that AYSO Regions can receive. Platinum Regions represent the best of the best that AYSO has to offer. These Regions model AYSO’s philosophies and commitment in providing the best family-friendly youth soccer experience for all players and parent volunteers. They nurture the generous spirit of their participants plus devote extra effort to providing assistance to worthy charitable causes.

To qualify for the Platinum level, a Region must complete 78 requirements, including all requirements for other award levels. Additional requirements to attain the Platinum level include providing assistance to a new, disadvantaged or sister AYSO Region, having a community relations program in place and utilizing short-sided games to enhance the soccer development of its players.
The Region Assessment Program is an evaluation of a Region’s performance compared against a list of best practices from Regions across the country. There are four award levels—Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

AYSO's California State Games Come to Region 73 at CSUB March 27-28, 2010

The highest playoff tournament in the AYSO structure will be coming to Region 73.  Due to field issues in Camarillo, the games are moving to CSUB in Bakersfield.  They will be hosted by Region 73.  This location was chosen as a result of Region 73 being the first region to have 100% trained board members.  They also were the first region to have been audited with zero action items afterward.  Saturday will be the League games and Sunday will be the All Star games.  One team, (in each division), from each of the four Sections will have a spot in this tournament.

Region 73 Has Been Selected To Participate In The 2010 AYSO National Games!

Every two years, teams from all over the country come together for a week of soccer, cultural exchange and fun at the AYSO National Games. Next year's Games will be held July 4-11, and couldn't be in a better place - beautiful, sunny Florida. The Village of Wellington, in Palm Beach County, Fla., will be the site for a week of soccer, sand, sun and many other activities for all participants and their families.

The Games will be held at the world-class International Polo Club Palm Beach. Among the most exciting element for the teams will be playing on the lush, open grounds of the International Polo fields, particularly for fans of equestrian sports.

AYSO began the National Games in 1988 with the purpose of bringing together teams from different Regions, Areas and Sections to experience the diversity AYSO has to offer. The Games are a chance for participants to make new friends and gain exposure to new parts of the country and other cultures and to enjoy a lot of soccer. The Games are not a national championship, but a celebration of all that is AYSO. Reese said that aside from soccer, there is one thing each attendee can expect:

"A really good time!"
